Office Christmas party ideas

A party people can choose.

Check preferences before booking. An evening party, a meal during work and a remote gathering are different choices, and each leaves some people out unless you plan for them.

  1. 01

    A meal during work

Arrange cover so the service and support teams can take part. Ask about dietary and access needs directly, and keep those details with the organiser.

  2. 02

    Small local gatherings

For several offices, let teams choose a suitable local plan within an agreed budget. Do not make travel to headquarters the price of being included.

  3. 03

    A short remote gathering

Keep the time inside the team’s working hours. An optional activity and a clear finish can suit colleagues who cannot travel or do not want an evening event.

  4. 04

A card beyond the guest list

Invite remote, part-time and absent colleagues to add words for the person or team being thanked. Attendance at a party is not the same as contribution to the year.

  5. 05

    A year-end thank you

Use a Christmas card when that suits the recipient, or a thank you card for a broader year-end occasion. Let the person’s preference guide the choice.

The organiser’s list

Before you book.

Confirm the budget and ask what people can attend. Give the card an organiser and an opening date rather than leaving it with the party venue.

  • Ask about timing, food and access needs.
  • Offer an alternative for people who cannot attend.
  • Arrange cover for working shifts.
  • Choose Christmas or year-end wording with the recipient.
  • Give contributors a deadline before leave starts.

AI safety checks

People write.
AI checks.

The check looks for threats, abuse, sexual content, spam and exposed private details. Flagged notes are kept off the card for a person to review.

How the checks work ↗
01

Your own words

AI does not write, complete or rewrite a colleague’s message.

02

A person can correct it

Company cards have a spam folder for managers and admins. On a card bought without an account, the creator reviews set aside notes through their manage link.

03

The limits are clear

AI can miss a note or flag one wrongly. If the check is unavailable, writing still works.

04

Check the data policy

Notes are sent to TypeSafe for the check. Names and card access codes are left out of that request.

From an occasion to a card

Give them
everyone’s words.

  1. 01

    Create the card

Pick a cover, name the recipient and choose when it opens. You can buy one card without a company account.

  2. 02

    Share the writing link

Colleagues contribute in a browser. Each person writes and signs their own message.

  3. 03

They open it on the day

The messages arrive together in one card. The recipient reads it on their phone.

For repeated birthdays, work anniversaries, welcomes and leaving days, use a company account with Slack and BambooHR.

Questions

What if some colleagues do not celebrate Christmas?

Offer a year-end thank you or a separate activity that suits the team. Do not require colleagues to join a celebration.

Can people who miss the party sign?

Yes. Share the writing link with them and allow time to contribute before their leave begins.

Does tbf work book party venues?

No. It provides the group card. You arrange the meal, venue or activity separately.

Give everyone a place in the thanks.
