Workplace anniversary messages

Pick your group, name the real thing they did, and sign it.

From a manager

  • Congratulations on another year. You ran the hardest project we had and made it look easy.

  • Your fifth year here. Thank you for building the team around you. I am glad you stayed.

  • Another year, and you are still the one I ask for the difficult client. Congratulations.

  • Happy work anniversary. The place runs better with you in it.

From a colleague

  • Happy anniversary. I have sat next to you for three of those years and I would do it again.

  • Congratulations on the milestone. You are the reason the kitchen rota works.

  • Another year in the same chair. I am glad it is your chair.

  • Happy work anniversary. You make the hard days bearable and the good days fun.

From the team

  • Happy anniversary from all of us. The team would not be the team without you.

  • Congratulations on another year. We are glad you are still here.

  • Happy work anniversary. You answer the questions nobody else can, and you do it before coffee.

  • To another year of your spreadsheets and our shared disbelief at them. Congratulations.

For a work friend

  • Another year of you and this place. I am surprised you lasted, and delighted you did.

  • Happy anniversary. I still owe you for the cover in March. Lunch is on me.

  • Five years. You have seen three managers and two office moves. Well done.

  • Congratulations on the milestone. The desk would be too quiet without you.

Short

  • Happy work anniversary.

  • Congratulations on another year.

  • Glad you are still here.

  • Happy anniversary from the team.

What not to write

Do not guess at the number of years. A card that says ten when it is nine is wrong in ink.

Do not write about their first day or how young they looked. They remember the nerves.

Do not mention retirement or how many years they have left. The anniversary is about this year.

One card from the team

Set the date, send one link, and it opens for them that morning.

  1. 01

    Add the date.

Their work anniversary. The card opens that morning and not before.

  2. 02

    Choose who to ask.

The team, the floor, or the people they work with. Each person gets one link.

  3. 03

    Everyone writes their own words.

Signed, in their own hand. The person reads it on their phone.

  • Two rings. Happy silver anniversary.
  • Two rings. Happy golden anniversary. Fifty years.
  • Lino-cut lettering in a printed band. Happy anniversary. Still the best decision you both made.
  • Marker lettering with a highlighter stroke. Congratulations. We all chipped in. It's a toaster.
  • A heart. Happy anniversary. Same again next year.
  • Marker lettering with a highlighter stroke. Happy anniversary. Still putting up with each other. Well done.
  • A bunch of flowers. Congratulations. What a day.
  • Stilllife wedding card. Congratulations.
  • A heart. Congratulations. We're so happy for you both.

Questions

What do you write for a work anniversary?

Say you are glad they are still on the team, mention one thing they did this year, and wish them a good day. Do not write about the first day they joined.

Should you mention the number of years?

Only if you are sure. A card that says five years when it is their fourth makes a joke of it. Say you are glad they are still here instead.

Who signs a work anniversary card?

Their team, their manager, and anyone who works with them day to day. A card signed by the whole floor is fine if the card is online and does not need to be walked around.

Drafted with Claude on 6 October 2026, checked by code, and read by a person when the subject or the checks ask for it.
