CIPD Festival of Work 2027
Birthdays and anniversaries are predictable. Project endings, welcomes and leaving days need a person who notices and takes responsibility.
Use birthdays and work anniversaries as the part you can plan ahead. Give each team an organiser instead of leaving every date with one person in HR.
Welcome cards come from the people a new colleague will work with. Invite them early enough for the card to arrive when the person joins.
A launch, handover or busy season can be an occasion of its own. Choose the person or team to thank and ask colleagues who saw the work.
Arrange the card before access to the work email ends. Check a suitable delivery route with the person rather than assuming the company address will keep working.
Ask the colleagues who know the recipient. Leave room for someone to decline, and do not turn who wrote a message into a league table.
The organiser’s list
Start with the dates your company already uses. Add a named organiser and a route for occasions that do not repeat.
AI safety checks
The check looks for threats, abuse, sexual content, spam and exposed private details. Flagged notes are kept off the card for a person to review.
How the checks work ↗AI does not write, complete or rewrite a colleague’s message.
Company cards have a spam folder for managers and admins. On a card bought without an account, the creator reviews set aside notes through their manage link.
AI can miss a note or flag one wrongly. If the check is unavailable, writing still works.
Notes are sent to TypeSafe for the check. Names and card access codes are left out of that request.
Read the privacy notice ↗From an occasion to a card
Pick a cover, name the recipient and choose when it opens. You can buy one card without a company account.
Colleagues contribute in a browser. Each person writes and signs their own message.
The messages arrive together in one card. The recipient reads it on their phone.
For repeated birthdays, work anniversaries, welcomes and leaving days, use a company account with Slack and BambooHR.
