Team occasions

An award.
With everyone’s words.

Employee recognition awards should name the contribution being recognised. Add a card from colleagues to the award, with a clear process and room for the recipient’s preferences.

AI checks. Human review. Your own words. ↓

Employee recognition awards

Choose the reason before the prize.

Keep your award rules separate from the card. A contribution to a thank you should not count as a nomination, a performance rating or a vote.

  1. 01

    Recognise a specific contribution

Choose an award for work the organisation can describe clearly: a project, a helpful handover or a piece of support. Explain the selection process before nominations begin.

  2. 02

    Make less visible work eligible

Consider support, operations and part-time colleagues when setting the criteria. A loud nomination campaign can miss people whose contribution happens behind the scenes.

  3. 03

Ask close colleagues for the card

Once the recipient is chosen, invite people who worked with them to contribute their own words. Keep the writing separate from the decision about who wins.

  4. 04

    Offer private recognition

Check whether the recipient wants a ceremony or photograph. A card can be read privately and does not require the person to give a speech.

  5. 05

Keep an AI check in its place

The card check flags notes for review. It does not judge award nominations, select a winner or assign a performance score to employees.

The organiser’s list

After the decision.

Confirm the recipient first, then organise the card. The person running the award should not use who signed as a second popularity measure.

  • Publish the award criteria separately.
  • Choose the recipient through your own process.
  • Invite colleagues who know their work.
  • Ask how the recipient wants it delivered.
  • Review flagged notes before the card closes.

AI safety checks

People write.
AI checks.

The check looks for threats, abuse, sexual content, spam and exposed private details. Flagged notes are kept off the card for a person to review.

How the checks work ↗
01

Your own words

AI does not write, complete or rewrite a colleague’s message.

02

A person can correct it

Company cards have a spam folder for managers and admins. On a card bought without an account, the creator reviews set aside notes through their manage link.

03

The limits are clear

AI can miss a note or flag one wrongly. If the check is unavailable, writing still works.

04

Check the data policy

Notes are sent to TypeSafe for the check. Names and card access codes are left out of that request.

From an occasion to a card

Give them
everyone’s words.

  1. 01

    Create the card

Pick a cover, name the recipient and choose when it opens. You can buy one card without a company account.

  2. 02

    Share the writing link

Colleagues contribute in a browser. Each person writes and signs their own message.

  3. 03

They open it on the day

The messages arrive together in one card. The recipient reads it on their phone.

For repeated birthdays, work anniversaries, welcomes and leaving days, use a company account with Slack and BambooHR.

Questions

Can AI choose the award winner?

tbf work’s AI check does not choose winners or assess performance. It checks card notes for content that may need review.

Is a group card the award itself?

It can accompany the award. You decide the criteria, prize and recognition process separately.

Must the award be public?

No. Ask the recipient whether they prefer a private card or a public presentation.

Give the award a personal thank you.
