Recognition days · Coming up
World Kindness Day falls on 13 November. Use it at work to thank a colleague for something they did, without a compulsory activity or a public vote.

World Kindness Day
Keep the day voluntary. A person can thank a colleague privately, contribute to a group card or choose not to join an activity.
Choose a colleague whose help you remember. A private card suits someone who would rather read their thanks than receive applause in a meeting.
Look beyond the team presenting the finished work. Reception, facilities, support and the colleague who covered an absence may have made it possible.
Offer time to help with a handover, cover a task or explain a process. Keep any extra work voluntary and agree it with the people affected.
A count of who received the most thanks can become a popularity contest. A card can recognise a person without comparing them with their colleagues.
Let contributors write what they noticed. Do not ask a machine to supply sentiments or make everyone use the same sentence.
The organiser’s list
One organiser, an agreed recipient and a writing link are enough for a card. The day does not need to become a company-wide exercise.
AI safety checks
The check looks for threats, abuse, sexual content, spam and exposed private details. Flagged notes are kept off the card for a person to review.
How the checks work ↗AI does not write, complete or rewrite a colleague’s message.
Company cards have a spam folder for managers and admins. On a card bought without an account, the creator reviews set aside notes through their manage link.
AI can miss a note or flag one wrongly. If the check is unavailable, writing still works.
Notes are sent to TypeSafe for the check. Names and card access codes are left out of that request.
Read the privacy notice ↗From an occasion to a card
Pick a cover, name the recipient and choose when it opens. You can buy one card without a company account.
Colleagues contribute in a browser. Each person writes and signs their own message.
The messages arrive together in one card. The recipient reads it on their phone.
For repeated birthdays, work anniversaries, welcomes and leaving days, use a company account with Slack and BambooHR.
