Which virtual farewell card site is best?

  • Colleagues want to record a goodbye

Use Kudoboard Premium or Thankbox Premium. Price the video tier before inviting the team to record clips.

  • More than a hundred people may contribute

Compare GroupGreeting's unlimited signatures with Kudoboard Milestone's unlimited posts. Count contributions, not just departments.

  • The company already uses Slack

tbf work Team lists Slack invitations and one reminder. For a single farewell, compare that yearly commitment with a one-off card.

  • The group is also buying a present

Thankbox publishes collection limits and contributor fees. Keep the card deadline separate from the time needed to arrange the present.

A London, Toronto and Singapore farewell

Work backwards from the person's final working day. A remote team can sign together without being awake together.

  1. 01

    Confirm the delivery address

Ask the organiser which address the colleague will still use after leaving. A work inbox may close before the card arrives.

  2. 02

State the closing time in each city

Give contributors a date, time and time zone. Include the local equivalent for each office after checking the actual date.

  3. 03

Allow each office a working day

Send the writing link early enough for Singapore to respond before London closes it and Toronto starts its last morning.

  4. 04

Separate the card from the call

If you will read it during a farewell call, arrange delivery beforehand. Colleagues who miss the call should still be able to contribute.

Check what survives the last day

A closing work inbox is easy to miss.

Check the recipient address and any downloadable copy before scheduling the farewell, especially if the person will lose access to the company's accounts that afternoon.

Video changes the price.

A service that accepts photos on its cheapest tier may charge more for recorded messages, so decide what colleagues will add before choosing the card.

Agree the format first.

Pick a design

  • A pot plant. The office plant will miss you. It told us.
  • Marker lettering. Jealous you're leaving. "Sorry" is crossed out and "Jealous" written above it.
  • An envelope. Good luck. We'll forward anything that comes for you.
  • A set of car keys. You were the only one who knew where the spare keys were.
  • Marker lettering with a highlighter stroke. It's not the same without you. It's quieter, mainly.
  • A mug. You're leaving us for a place with a better kettle.
  • A printer. Who's going to fix the printer now?
  • Two-colour printed lettering. The new lot don't know how lucky they are.
  • Marker lettering with a highlighter stroke. You made Mondays less bad. Not good. Less bad.
  • A cake. Bye. Thanks for everything. Mostly the cake.
